There are many places to look for valuable resource information. We'll post some good places to start that will help you out with your career plan, tools to support your design work, and other industry-related news sites. * LinkedIn is a business-oriented networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 (comparable to a social networking site), mainly used for professional networking. As of November 2007, it had more than 16 million registered users, spanning 150 industries and more than 400 economic regions (as classified by the service).
* The main purpose of the site is to allow registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections. Users can invite anyone (whether a LinkedIn user or not) to become a connection.

* This is a great source for freelance designers; it provides resources to help designers with daily management of their studios.

* Find consulting, contract, temp or freelance opportunities at this site.
oDesk - http://odesk.com
* This site works differently than other freelance sites. Freelancers are required to pass a readiness test and download & set up a project tracking system before you can bid on projects.
* Graduates and students in their final term of school are invited to publish their work
* There is a GPA requirement (minimum of a 3.5)
* Final selection is based on overall quality of work
* Looks good on your resume
* Meet other Westwood members and share your portfolio pieces
* Since employers want to hire experienced workers, it is important to complete work outside of your school projects; get involved and gain some experience
* Any work created in the group can go in your portfolio and on your resume, separating you from all of the other students out there.
